Hi!

My name is Jimmy Lu and welcome to my online portfolio. I am a game and level designer from Los Angeles and a graduate from the University of California: Santa Cruz.

As far as I can remember, I have always been passionate about games. I grew up around games like Megaman Battle Network, Pokemon, and Call of Duty. I loved the creativity that I found within those games and I wanted to be a part of that. While there are many types of creative roles within the game industry, I ultimately fell in love with level design.

Level design has a ton of influences within games. One of the many things level design can do is: subconsciously lead the player down a path, warn the player to be wary of an area, or even tell a story about what took place within a room through the use of lighting, object placement, and composition. Once done right, level design could give players incredible moments that would stick with them for a long time.
